..And Then The Rains Can And Washed All The Crops Away…

WOW! In my previous article I said Florida was sad that I was leaving.  Well, as we pull out of Jacksonville and head north on I95, Florida is not sad, she seems to be really pissed off! (I seem to have that effect on women.)

As we headed north the rain just continued to poor and visibility became an issue at times.  It never ceases to amaze me how horribly some people drive in the rain.  As a native Floridian I am an old pro at this and let me give a pointer here that comes from my law enforcement background as well as just knowing what to do. Do not, I repeat, do NOT drive down a highway with your flashers on.  What you fail to understand is that now nobody behind you can tell if you are hitting your brakes or not.  If you don’t believe me, look it up!

At any rate, Gillian and I were laughing as we saw that Florida had a propensity to advertise “live baby alligators” and other reptile attractions as the major industry of Florida.  It seems you can hold one, pet one, take pictures with one, even eat one, and in some parts of Florida I think you can marry one!

As we headed into Georgia and said goodbye to the reptile farms of Florida, we found no matter where you went it appears you could, hold, pet, eat, and yes, I believe marry a Peach!  These states are really capitalizing on their main crops lol.

Now we’re heading into South Carolina. Oh boy! Did these billboards take a turn. From alligators to peaches to being told repeatedly I am dying and going to hell. Yes, repent now seems to be South Carolina’s theme.  Makes me wonder just what I am missing in South Carolina. There must be some shenanigans going on there to remind everyone that drives by you need to repent.  And did I mention it’s still raining cats and dogs? I will have a lot of repenting to do after my language at a few people today.

So, in Santee, SC we decided to head inland and get out of the storm where we crossed into North Carolia. North Carolina did not seem to be proud of anything much or they had just found billboards to be a waste of time and space.

We have stopped for the night at Huntersville, NC. It’s still raining, and we are just tired and are actually in no hurry to get anywhere. Don’t get me wrong, we are excited and anxious to get to Portsmouth but, we left early for situations just like this. Oh, and I think I will do more articles about the hotels and people we have met along the way.  There is so much to talk about.  Keep an eye for videos down at the bottom of the home page.  There are a few there now but I will be adding more about the trip.

So, I think we are going to put it to bed. Let me rephrase that. I am going to have a drink, repent, and then go to bed.  Stay tuned…
